The Spirit of Enterprise : High Point's 1923 Pageant of Progress
Caption:
With the Great War of 1914 to 1918 still fresh in everyone's memory, and with many veterans of the conflict in attendance, the parade's route was decorated with flags of the victorious allied nations. The parade was also accompanied by military escorts, a marching band, and soldiers dressed in period costumes. Their participation was managed by the American Legion. Many of the decorations were reused in later Fourth of July and Armistice Day parades.
