High Point at Play : Health and Leisure in Our City
Caption:
Historically, abundance of leisure time and access to certain forms of recreation were usually tied to wealth. In the early 20th Century, High Point's richer citizens began to indulge in a passion for British style fox hunts. The gentleman seen in this photograph may be a member of the Sedgefield Hunt, established in 1927. A High Point resident, John Rochelle, was the hunt's first Master of Foxhounds.
