When Racing Was Racing : High Point Tracks
Caption:
During the 1950s, most of the NASCAR races were short and on dirt tracks throughout the Southeast. The North Carolina Piedmont region was a center for the development of tracks. Besides the two tracks in High Point, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Mount Airy, North Wilkesboro, Randleman, Thomasville, Eden, and Hillsborough all had tracks that hosted races in the 1940s and 1950s.
