When Racing Was Racing : High Point Tracks

The High Point Motor Speedway opened on October 20, 1940. Brothers Clarence, Charles, and Buck Baity of Yadkinville, NC, built the one mile track on Johnson Street. It covered 137 acres, had grandstands for 10,000, and a tunnel to an infield which could hold hundreds of cars.
