Under Curtright's leadership, the Institute continued its blended program of vocational training and academics. It was awarded an accredited class rating of "A" for Negro high schools from the Southern Association of Colleges and High Schools during his tenure. Students were actively encouraged to flex their creative muscles in public programs, as in this 1927 cooking demonstration and fashion revue.
