Mary Jarrell married Seborn Perry in 1855. Her brother bought the Perry's High Point house and re-established it as the Jarrell Hotel. The Perrys had three children: Mina Jarrell Perry Ingram, Minnie Victoria Perry Vail, and Seborn Perry, Jr. They also adopted two orphaned nephews, Manliff Jarrell Wrenn and Thomas Franklin Wrenn. Later in life, Thomas Wrenn built High Point's first furniture factory.

No information is known about the artist, who signed himself "Frederick."
