City Lake Park : Selected Photographs
Caption:
High Point's City Lake was created in the late 1920s with the construction of a dam across Deep River. During the Great Depression of the 1930s, the federal Civil Works Administration gave $125,000 to build the surrounding park. It opened its gates to the public in 1935. The centerpiece of the park, its pool, cost as little as 15 cents for a day's admission.
