52 Weeks of Community Memories, Part 1 : High Point Historical Society celebrates 50 years

On the afternoon of February 11, 1960, students from William Penn High School took seats at tthe South Main Street Woolworth's Department store lunch counter in protest of segregated public facilities. Folowing the lead of the sit-ins in Greensboro which began on February 1, the High Point sit-ins may be the first in the nation to be led by high school students.
