In spite of the brand's name, Piccadilly needles were also manufactured in Germany. After the turn of the 20th Century, the number of factories producing needles in the United States began to rival their German competitors. Protective tariffs, and, later, the First World War, helped to boost American sewing needle and straight pin production.
