Melzetta Williams : A Teacher's Recollections

In 1923, when Mrs. Williams attended, High Point Normal and Industrial School transferred from the Society of Friends to the City of High Point to serve as the high school for African American students. For a time, the school was called the "Normal High School," but the name changed officially to William Penn High School in 1927 in honor of the Quaker founder of Pennsylvania.
