Caption:
Elwood Hotel, South Main Street, c. 1910.

The railroad stop on Main Street created the hub of the urban boom-town by the early 1900s. Banks and hotels surrounded the new Southern Railway depot building when it was completed in 1906, including the four story Elwood Hotel on Main Street, considered one of the state's finest when it was completed around 1903.
