The Market's increased need for showroom space led to further expansion of the Southern Furniture Exposition Building. Between 1954 and 1955, the South Wing was extended to the edge of Main Street. This enlargement of the South Wing was the building's third expansion. The first, in 1940, added four stories to the height of the original building.
