Today, as many as 180 separate buildings are utilized during Market, making for a total of 11.5 million square feet of showroom space. One of the last buildings to be built specifically for furniture showrooms, Showplace, designed in 2000 by Hyndman & Hyndman, has a modern, dynamic style. However, many showrooms are located in older buildings which have been repurposed. At last count, more than 2,000 exhibitors fill these spaces. From humble origins, the High Point Market has risen to become, in the words of J. J. Farriss, "The World's Furniture Mart."
