Caption:
The High Point Housewife: A Practical Cook Book, issued in 1903 by the Ladies Aid Society of the Washington Street Methodist Episcopal Church includes many advertisements for local businesses as well as recipes contributed by its members. Among the numerous excellent cake recipes of church matrons, one finds Grandma Tate Cookies submitted by Grandma Tate herself: "1 c. butter, 1 c. sugar, 1 c. molasses, 2 eggs, 2 t. soda, 2 t. ginger, flour to mix soft dough and roll thin."

Gift of Fred Jones.
