52 Weeks of Community Memories, Part 4 : High Point Historical Society celebrates 50 years
VE Exhibit Label 2:
Vice-Presidential candidate Lyndon Johnson made a whistle-stop visit at High Point's passenger station on October 10, 1960, perhaps as a consolation for his running mate, John F. Kennedy, not stopping in High Point during his visit to North Carolina a month earlier. An inclement weather plan for Kennedy's daylong swing through the state on September 17 would have re-routed him to High Point and lunch at the Sheraton Hotel.

This photograph appeared in The High Point Enterprise on Monday, October 17, 2016.
